Converted the garage to create a sitting area, ensuite, utility area and new connection to the house; built new front brickwork with two basement windows; formed drainage; installed blue soundboard plasterboard to the party-wall side; fitted a rear window and three internal doors; replaced fascia and soffits.

Problems solved

Issue

Existing brick courses were stepped incorrectly, meaning the new brickwork could not be toothed into both sides in the usual way. This needed to be resolved without compromising the surrounding construction or finished appearance.

How we fixed it

Toothed the new masonry into the existing brickwork where possible and mechanically tied the opposite side to create a secure connection.
