How we fixed it

Quality Construction recommended a targeted, properly prepared installation rather than a temporary cosmetic repair. The agreed approach was to removed the existing mortar fillet; fabricated and installed welded lead chimney aprons; used flexible lead sealant; applied two coats of patination oil; repointed the end ridge. with attention to preparation, detailing and long-term performance.

Outcome

The chimney weathering was upgraded from a mortar fillet to properly formed lead detailing.
