The customer wanted a reliable, properly finished solution at the property in Woburn Sands. The starting point was leaking slate-roof valley. The priority was to correct the issue properly and leave a durable, professional finish.

Leaking slate-roof valley. The existing construction and surrounding details were assessed so the scope could focus on the areas genuinely requiring attention.
Challenges

What we did
- Used a tower scaffold for access, opened the valley, prepared the surrounding roof and installed a replacement GRP valley before reinstating the adjacent slate details.

Set up safe access and inspect the existing masonry/roof detail to confirm the areas requiring renewal. QC focus: preparation, correct sequencing and quality of the access & inspection stage.
Removal & preparation
Remove defective mortar, leadwork or surrounding covering as necessary and clean the surfaces ready for the new detail. QC focus: preparation, correct sequencing and quality of the removal & preparation stage.
Installation / repair
Form and install the new lead, mortar, valley or ridge detail using the appropriate method for the existing roof. QC focus: preparation, correct sequencing and quality of the installation / repair stage.
Finishing
Point/seal/patinate or reinstate adjoining roof materials as required. QC focus: preparation, correct sequencing and quality of the finishing stage.
Completion check
Inspect the finished weathering detail and photograph the completed work. QC focus: preparation, correct sequencing and quality of the completion check stage.

The agreed approach was to used a tower scaffold for access, opened the valley, prepared the surrounding roof and installed a replacement GRP valley before reinstating the adjacent slate details. with attention to preparation, detailing and long-term performance.
